Compare two versions of text line by line

Compare release notes, edited paragraphs, configuration snippets, or a revised checklist. For a cleaner comparison, apply the same whitespace settings to both inputs first.

  1. Paste the original text on the left and the revised text on the right.
  2. Review added, removed, and unchanged lines.
  3. Use the totals to understand the size of the change. Swap the inputs if you need the reverse comparison.
  4. Copy the revised text after reviewing the differences.

Example

Original: “Delivery on Monday”. Revised: “Delivery on Tuesday”. The old line is marked removed and the new line added; the tool does not highlight individual changed words.

What to check before copying

  • Matching is exact and line-based. Capitalization and whitespace differences can change a line’s match.
  • A moved line can appear as a removal and an addition. This is a text comparison, not a semantic review of the meaning.
  • For large files, compare relevant sections instead of an entire export. Processing happens in the browser and very large inputs can slow the page.

Text is processed locally in your browser. No account is required. Save a copy of important source text before changing it.
